Linking in to Yarn Along
Finished these two baby blankets for charity...
to go to a special care nursery in Victoria
Also finished reading the Trapp Family Singers book and now reading this one by the eldest von Trapp daughter Agathe...
both books true stories and very interesting and informative about life in another time and place
Also watched Leave No Trace DVD...
Refreshingly different. I like different! And I liked this movie...
On another note...
I had a birthday on Tuesday, so another year older, but thankfully, not deeper in debt :)
received cards and handmade goodies from family and friends, as well as phone calls, txt messages, video calls...
This came in the mail all the way from Charlevoix Pure Laine in Quebec City (via Connecticut)! Beautiful natural knitting yarn and a warm woolly poncho (which I love)…
thanks my 'Connecticut family' :))
And what birthday would be complete without a new book: Tea and Threads...
a beautiful book... from me to me
And also arrived in the mail this Blurb book Natasha put together of their family trip to Vietnam in 2014...
underneath is one she did of their trip to Stanley (when I was living there) in 2011
And if that wasn't enough, when I got home from taking my car in for its annual service to Launceston on Monday, the workers were here...
Turning the ugly, messy, decommissioned, garden strip down my driveway from this...
To this (the cement was still wet in the photo but has now dried to blend in more)...
thanks Marnie and Phil...a very welcome and practical birthday gift!
Are you exhausted yet? I am!! So here's your calming nature pic...
We are having some lovely summer rain, so this morning it was a walk with my umbrella...
And that's more than enough from me...
Coffee time!
xx
As long as you don't owe your soul to the company store - I guess you're all right. :D
ReplyDeleteNow I've gotta stop laughing so I can type. Ahem.
What a nice thing for a gift, to have that strip along the fence fixed up. Hard work for a hot summer! One thing which I remember from the Trapp family book was how the young people in Germany in Maria's youth would hike and sing and it all seems so wholesome, and totally, totally gone now - as you said, another time and place. It's a cryin' shame, too.
That yarn has traveled around the world to reach you, and it's pretty; well, it passed through Connecticut, so it's special. ;-) HAPPY BIRTHDAY! xoxo
The company store definitely does not own my soul :)), so I'm ok on that count!
DeleteReally enjoying the books, but couldn't watch the movie (I tried) after reading the 'real' thing.
Thanks for the birthday wishes, and just like the yarn, I hope to pass through Connecticut sometime this year, so hopefully we can meet up somewhere :) xx
Yes!
DeleteThis comment is from daughter Natasha (in Connecticut) which I'm posting for her because for some reason Blogger won't let her do it:
ReplyDelete"Busy, busy, love the green blanket and have put Leave No Trace on our movie list. Glad you liked all the birthday goodies and your summer rain walk looks very inviting."
:)) xx
DeleteHappy Birthday,
