Blankets...Beanies...Books...

Linking up with Ginny again for the weekly Yarn Along...

We had our monthly charity knitting get together this past week.  We now have beanies and cot blankets ready to be posted to the relevant charities.

3 cot blankets will go to KOGO

And the 70 beanies will go to Cairns to be sent to Nepal for Friends of Himalayan Children

A great effort from a small number of knitters!!

Still reading At The Water's Edge, but more than half way through it.  It's ok, but a bit too much about the main character Maddie for my liking, and not enough about the setting (Scottish Highlands), which was one of the reasons I was drawn to the book :)

So...I'm looking forward to starting THIS book next, and hoping it won't disappoint...

It has rather mixed reviews, so will see how it goes...

Why all this interest in Scotland?

Well...

It's because the family are planning on meeting up there next year for our holidays.  The Aussie winter...Scottish summer...

So I'm getting a feel for the place :))

Yarning

Joining Ginny on her blog for Yarn Along...

Finished the crocheted edge on this cot blanket for one of the charities our knitting group support...

Now need to crochet around this single bed blanket...

Back to reading THIS book.  I read the first chapter a couple of weeks ago, but then had to finish a book I had on loan from the library.  With that done, I can now get back to this one in earnest.

Enjoying it so far...

And also browsing some back issues of this great Aussie magazine...Slow...

Winter has arrived...
Snow on the mountains...

It's nice to have some knitting on the go...a good book to read...wood for the fire...

Out with the old...

In with the new...

Now all I need to do is learn how to use it!!

In the mail...

My friend Sharm has a Snail Mail/Round Robin Yahoo group.  I have been a member of it since the beginning and have made some lovely friendships over the years.

She is opening up the group to new members, so if you think you might be interested, go check out her blog and leave a comment.

She does want to limit the size of the group, so if she gets too many interested, then I will be happy to start some round robin letters from here!

Stacked

Had a load of firewood delivered yesterday

Making a start...
(the darker wood at the bottom of the stack in the shed is what I had left from last winter)

Getting there...
(on to my second row)

Almost done...
 (third row)

Finito...
(3 - 3 1/2 metres of wood)

I must be fitter than I was last winter as I did the stacking over a couple of days.  This time I did it all in one go (with a small break for a banana and a quick Sudoku while eating it).  Took me about 2 hours to do it all...rake up the mess on the grass and collect a box of kindling.

I'm so glad I got it finished as over night and today it's been raining heavily and steadily with very strong winds.

So now I can sit by the fire and...read...knit...dream...
