Workout

I've been moving the leftover firewood from last winter...

To the side of the woodshed...

So I've got space for the new load of wood I'm getting delivered this week...

Then I'll really get a workout... :))

Sabbath Selebrations

Yesterday, after Sabbath School and church, we had a special celebratory lunch for a lovely young Korean couple who were recently married.  They attended the church before my time, have been back to Korea to get married, and are now back in Tasmania. I had not met them before, but we all enjoyed a happy time of food and fellowship.  Here are some of the church folk (and the happy couple on the right)...
we always have such an abundance of food!

I took vegies with chopped walnuts and parsley...

The three little baby blankets I've been working on recently are finished and ready to be packaged up and mailed off to the relevant charity...

I might start another one tonight as one of the charities for March is also asking for baby blankets...and I really enjoy making them :)

Read this poem recently in one of my devotional reads and I thought I'd share it with you...

The path was veiled! The Master's will was hidden,
And further progress for the time was stayed;
But in good time he would again be bidden
And, waiting meantime, he was unafraid.

Then came that night when, maybe, softly sleeping,
The vision came-- the clarion call to move;
And once again, with all in God's good keeping,
He could step forth, God's faithfulness to prove.

No human voice conveyed the word of leading;
No human hand was sent, his way to guide;
No human heart full knew his depth of needing,
Or could assist him to his steps decide.

And so, without to other minds appealing,
"Assuredly" he "gathered" now God's will,
Yet-- to his inner soul there came revealing--
He started forth, God's purpose to fulfill.

Perhaps, O soul, thou waitest for His leading,
Thy longing heart His further will would'st know;
Rest thou in God: His ear hath heard thy pleading,
The "further steps" He yet to thee will shew.

Keep looking Himwards-- He alone can lead thee;
Nor count from choicest friends thy way to glean;
He knoweth best where He Himself doth need thee,
And He can lead thee on by means unseen.

"Assuredly" thy longing heart shall "gather"
The guidance thou dost long for; therefore wait;
Fret not thyself! Ah, no! But learn this rather--
God's guidance never comes to us too late.

--J. Danson Smith.

And on that note I shall "start forth"...off on my afternoon walk...

Words on Wednesday

Although it will be Thursday when I post this (to link in with Yarn Along), but I'm typing it up on Wednesday...and I think for some of you it is still Wednesday...

Been crocheting baby blankets for charity.  On to my third...they are only 60 cm squares, so quick to do, and I am using up bits and pieces of colourful yarn I have here...

Reading 26 Grains from the library. It might be a 'buyer'!

And Stranger in my Home from the church library. Written in 1974 and very interesting!

Also started knitting a scarf/cowl in the handspun yarn I bought recently.  Not sure how far it will go, I only have one ball, so it will probably end up being a cowl.

And cooking beetroot/redbeet from the garden...

C'est la vie!

Catmint Cottage

Catmint is my favourite plant...

The bees love it too...

So I have decide to call my house Catmint Cottage!  The front garden beds are bordered by catmint which I have spent the morning pruning...

Still have the other side to do...

I'm hoping to get another flowering from it before winter.

So then it was inside for lunch...Fried Rice with Cashews...

Here's what I did:   fried/sauted chopped onion, garlic and some grated (fresh) ginger in a little olive oil.  Added chopped carrot, celery and capsicum and some frozen peas and corn.  Added a little water and put the lid on to steam vegies a bit to soften slightly.  Pushed to one side of pan and poured in one (or you could use two) beaten eggs and stirred and cooked.  Added cooked brown rice and mixed all together.  Added a small amount of sesame oil (the flavour is quite strong so don't use too much) and soy sauce to taste.  Lastly, added roasted, unsalted cashews, lots of chopped parsley and freshly ground pepper.   Voila!  Bon appetit!!

And for Yarn Along this week...

Working on another baby blanket for charity.

Reading How the Weather Affects your Health (from the library) and For His Honour (from the church library).

"Look all around, there's nothin' but blue skies
Look straight ahead, there's nothin' but blue skies"

Enjoying a Sun Shiny day!!

Still in sea mode...

Just finishing off the edging on my bright baby blanket (for charity)...

And about to start reading The Outrun which I bought when away on my 'sea fix' last week.  How could I not...it's set in the Orkney's!!!

And a small hank of blue hand spun, hand dyed yarn (sea colours) to knit ??  what?  Maybe a small cowl?  Not sure how far the yarn will go...

Plenty to keep me busy whilst dreaming :))

Sea Change

Got to spend a couple of days by the sea.  Not at my beloved Stanley, but at Devonport, which was almost as nice...

 early morning...the best time of the day...

 watching the sail boats

And the freight ships...

The walk track along the rugged coastline to the Bluff Lighthouse...

The sandy main beach...

The sand/pebble/driftwood beach near the cabin park where I did my walking...
and soaked in the sounds and scents of the sea

And then on Sunday...my birthday...Marnie and Denver took me to the Hazelnut Farm cafe near Hagley for afternoon tea.

We sat on the deck, enjoying the view...
 ...of the hazelnut trees and mountains

and ducks (or geese?) under the trees

And enjoyed our hazelnut cheesecake...sorry...I ate it before I thought to take a photo :)...and latte...

Thus endeth another trip to the sea and another birthday!!!

And a PS for Lisa...because quite often we seem to be on the same wavelength even though we are on opposite sides of the world...

She just posted about her plant in a white paper bag on her blog, and I had just done a similar thing with a little succulent I bought on the way home from my sea trip...but put mine in a brown paper bag...

it's a baby sunrose...supposed to go outside, but I've got it inside for now

Beans Bananas Beanies Books

Backyard bounty...

This is what happens when you don't pick the beans for a few days...

I froze some, and used some fresh for my dinner...

Chicken and cashew stirfry...

And when you don't eat the bananas quick enough...
 I can't eat them once they get brown/black spots on them

You have to make another banana, date and walnut cake...
and eat it too!!

And for Yarn Along...

Finished the back of my jumper...

Packaging up and mailing off charity beanies for Ronald McDonald House...
 they wanted bright colours :)

Reading Search for Sunday...enjoying and relating...

And I bought the Streams in the Desert devotional because I had a 30% off voucher from Koorong.  I have used this devotional years ago, and am really enjoying it again, especially the fact that there is a morning and evening reading.   The thoughts, poems and quotes are timeless...

So I will finish with this from Streams in the Desert - January 30 - Morning...

Go from your country...to the land I will show you. Genesis 12.1

(looking across the Meander Valley and Deloraine to the Grest Western Tiers)

From The Explorer...
“THERE’S no sense in going further—it’s the edge of cultivation,”
  So they said, and I believed it—broke my land and sowed my crop—
Built my barns and strung my fences in the little border station
  Tucked away below the foothills where the trails run out and stop.

Till a voice, as bad as Conscience, rang interminable changes
  On one everlasting Whisper day and night repeated—so:
“Something hidden. Go and find it. Go and look behind the Ranges—
  “Something lost behind the Ranges. Lost and waiting for you. Go!”

Anybody might have found it but—His Whisper came to Me!
 Kipling

So...I intend to take a little trip, not behind the ranges...but to the sea!!
