Weekend Words

The Peace Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

“Make me a channel of your peace,
Where there is hatred let me bring your love,
Where there is injury your pardon Lord,
And where there’s doubt true faith in you.
Make me a channel of your peace,
Where there’s despair in life, let me bring hope,
Where there is darkness, only light,
And where there’s sadness, ever joy.
O Master grant that I may never seek,
So much to be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love with all my soul.
Make me a channel of your peace,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
In giving of ourselves that we receive.
And in dying that we’re born to eternal life.
Make me a channel of your peace.”

I'm a bit late with this as I've been down with a migraine.  But I think it's still the weekend for some of you :)

and...because

...this morning at the river...
6.45am - looks like a black and white photo, but that's just because of the fog...

And when I got home at 7.30 the fog was starting to lift...
that's the sun!

And as I was walking and thinking (as one does) I remembered this book I had on my bookshelves...
might be time to re-read it

Because I've been in garden mode, and yesterday I moved 10 small English Box plants from here...
because this garden bed is being removed (along with the tool box the previous owner had plants in??)

To here...
4 of the plants are quite stunted because they had been overcrowded, but I'm hoping they will come good

And now it's time for lunch...
(FYI - lettuce, rocket, capsicum, tomato, hardboiled egg, avocado, beetroot, sauteed Swiss Brown mushrooms, steamed broccoli, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, cashews)

And perhaps a read...

Because that's what one does after lunch...n'est ce pas?

On this day...

Had some garden work done yesterday...trees and stumps removed...old garden structures dismantled...
I've been out this morning doing a bit more.  Starting to see a difference, but a lot more to be done before winter sets in.

Then inside for my morning indulgence...

I had my friend Debbie staying for a couple of nights last week, and she is here again tonight to stay on her way back home.  She sent me this yarn from India last year (where she lives for 6 months and then here in TAS for 6).  I made a start on a project, but didn't really have a design in mind, and so it got put aside.  Back at it now, feeling guilty that she is visiting again (12 months later) and I still haven't finished it, so making a concerted effort to finish it before she goes back to India again...

I did finish this little baby/toddler top using up a ball of variegated/fair isle yarn I had.  Just need to get some buttons for the shoulders...
I really like the way the 'variegations' knit up to a fair isle pattern...all by itself :)

Reading another Fredrik Backman book, and as usual I am not disappointed.  This is the third of his I've read and I really like how he explores his character's personalities and quirkiness.  He is very perceptive...

A light frost this morning...winter is on the way...

Ideal knitting, crocheting and reading weather...in between garden work of course... :))

Cool, Calm and Cloudy

My kind of day...down by the river early this morning...
6.30am

Have been cooking turkey patties...

Here's the recipe (but I changed it a bit)...

The first time I made it I used turkey mince, but this time I used beef mince.  And I added some cooked lentils, sourdough breadcrumbs and a grated carrot.  And no onion.

Instead of making a burger, I made a 'one bowl wonder'...
(lettuce, rocket, capsicum, cucumber, tomato, avocado, beef patty, sesame and sunflower seeds, and some home made tomato relish)

And baking more ginger and macadamia shortbread...

So I won't need to do any cooking for a few days :))

Finished knitting a cushion cover...

And after a few false starts with this green yarn (which knits up in a fair isle pattern) I have decide to to make this vest...

From the library today...

Started reading The Reason You're Alive.  I think I am going to like it, but will let you know how it goes...

Life is good!

I hope you can say the same :)

Weekend Words

There is a stillness in the Christian’s life:
An inner stillness only known to him
Who has so gladly laid at Jesus’ feet
His all, and now He reigns alone within,
Master of every motion, wish and plan.
In stillness crowned, He rules supreme as King,
And in that inner chamber of the heart
Has made a little sanctuary within.

There is a stillness in the Christian’s life:
The corn of wheat must fall into the ground
And die, then if it die, out of that death
Life, fullest life, will blessedly abound.
It is a mystery no words can tell,
But known to those who in this stillness rest;
Something Divinely incomprehensible:
That for my nothingness, I get God’s best!

On this day...

Winter woollies...
 (taken to Bec's shop)

Keeping busy...

Watched The Girl on the Train DVD - it was good!
After a few false starts (which always happens after reading a good book - BearTown), I've settled on reading a Henning Mankell book.
Have knitted a beanie for charity.
And now working on a cover for the cushion on my lounge chair.

Lunch...
(lettuce, rocket, cucumber, capsicum, tomato, egg, corn,
cashews, sunflower and pumpkin seeds)

And remember awhile back I mentioned I was working on a birthday surprise for a friend...
I finished it!

She called in today, so I gave it to her (and she liked it!)...an early birthday present...
Happy Birthday Vicki!!!

By the time I got home again...the colour had gone.

The beauty, peace and solitude of early morning!
