This week...

I've spent the week battling migraines, spending yesterday in bed with a full blown one as I had run out of medication.  Had to phone a friend to go pick some tablets up for me from the chemist in town (20klm away).  An hour after taking the tablet I started to come good.  Still not 100% today, but much better than I was feeling yesterday.

Some of you may know I have been waiting on a court decision on a financial settlement with my husband.  The decision was handed down on tuesday...not as good as I had hoped, and there will be no house buying for me, but I will have enough to pay legal bills, and pay back what I have had to  borrowed from family, and have a little left over.  I am a little disappointed I will need to continue renting, but...God knows best...and I am happy it is all finally nearly over and I can get on with life.

So, on to other things....

This morning I made this bread.  But this time I used 1 cup of white flour, 1 cup of wholemeal flour, 1 cup of rye flour, 1 cup of spelt flour and 3/4 cup of besan (chick pea) flour.  It turned out delicious again and I enjoyed 2 pieces warm with tomato and cheese on for lunch...with a cup of tea of course!

So I ordered it from Amazon UK (via amazon US) and it arrived today.  I think I'm going to really enjoy it...can't wait to get started!

My vest is coming along...have nearly finished the back...

I'm also knitting a wide scarf/narrow shawl in some lovely cream (although it looks white in the photo) English Leicester wool I have.  Not enough to make a bigger garment, so thought I would knit it up and put it in the community craft shop.  It's getting cooler here, so I'm hoping more of my 'warm woollies' will start selling...

Also knitting diagonal squares to be made into cot blankets for one of our charities.....

And I've just heard a friend who has been unwell for a while has been hospitalised (hopefully not for long), so I thought I'd put my knitting aside and crochet a lap blanket for her.

That's about if for 'my week in Tasmania'.  Hope y'all are having a good one!!

Meeting the Master

Ginger Biscuits for Bean...

...and anyone else who would like the recipe!

Cream together:

5oz/142 gms butter
1 egg
1 cup sugar (I use castor sugar)
1 tablespoon golden syrup


Then add:

2 cups self-raising flour
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 teaspoon bi-carb soda

Roll into walnut sized balls (I flatten them slightly). Dip tops in sugar. Arrange on greased (I use olive oil) baking trays (sugar side up), leaving room for spreading.

Bake in 180C (I think that is about 350'F) oven for about 20 minutes.

Enjoy, but be warned...they are addictive!!
