The invigoration of quiet

It’s Not That

It’s not that I don’t like people
It’s just that I also like solitude.

There is no loneliness in solitude,
But the company of self,
And peace, and calm.

The quieting of the mind,
The stilling of the thoughts.

Then awareness.

The ticking of the clock,
The sound of distant traffic,
The awakening of the senses.

And the eyes see.
Shadows, movement.

Or nothing.

And then...

Hello world,
Here I come.

    1. Some of us (me!) seem to need solitude more than others :) xx
