Out and About - Week 4

A week late...

SUNDAY afternoon saw us at the Jazz Club concert which was held in one of Deloraine's historic homes...
 the ballroom at Glendalough

And some music/song from a couple of young, up and coming artists...

MONDAY was our longest walk to date, almost 10 km, at Narawntapu National Park...

We started by walking the hinterland track...

And on to the bird hide on the lake...

various bird life including a black swan

Then the climb up Archers Knob...

on the climb up

We ate our lunch at the summit and enjoyed the view...
 the hinterland

the coast/beach

The trek back down and return walk along the length of pristine, deserted Bakers Beach...
 "...wade in the water..."

Bye Bakers Beach...

And afterwards...

The weather for the rest of the week was a bit up and down (rain, wind, sun) but managed to get in quite a bit of gardening (clearing and cutting back) and son in law Phil came with his ute and carted it all away :)

ready to start a new pile now

This year I did my Christmas shopping from the Mission Without Borders Gift Catalogue...

Today my gift cards came...
ready to send off to family

I've managed to get in some crochet time.  Blankets for charity...

And reading A Thousand Splendid Suns from the library.

That will have to do you...

The kitchen calls...

Out and About - Free Tasmanian Parks Pass for Seniors

While we're on the subject of  getting out and about, there is a Tasmanian government initiative on at the moment for free Tasmanian National Parks passes for Seniors (those who hold a Seniors card).  You can read about it HERE.  And HERE.

Then go HERE to register by clicking 'Seniors Pass'.  I've just printed out my pass!  So easy!!

So far we have not needed a Parks Pass as none of the walks we've done were in National Parks, but the day is coming...

Get out and about...and walk!

Out and About - Week 3

Monday was Pine Lake...

Then on to the lookout over the Great Lake...

And down to the shore for a wander...

We considered doing the Projection Bluff walk on the return journey, but there was basically no track to follow...

Although someone had built a few cairns to try and mark the way...

So we decided to give it a miss

Wednesday was Devils Gullet walk, which was pretty amazing...

And from the lookout...

A detour to Lake McKenzie...

Then on to the short Fern Glade walk at the entrance to Marrakoopa Cave...

And yesterday morning (Thursday), by the river...

That's your pic fix for the week!

November Yarn Along

Joining others for Yarn Along.

With all my out and about walking (see blog posts HERE and HERE), my reading and knitting has gone by the wayside a bit...

But I'm still working on the vest/sleeveless pullover in my lovely Faroese yarn, and doing a bit of mindless crochet (a baby blanket for charity), while reading The Better Son, which is set in the local area (Mole Creek) and although I've dragged it out a bit due to lack of reading time, I'm really enjoying it.

While we are on the subject of crafting, the Annual Tasmanian Craft Fair was on in Deloraine over 4 days last weekend.  The weather wasn't the best (cool, showers and windy), but we ventured out on the Saturday for a browse of the various venues, and (as one does) I bought a bag...

Daughter Marnie just managed to get her craft studio set up in time for the fair, and is now in a permanent venue at the Deloraine Creative Studios in the main street...

Call in and see her if you are in Deloraine

She also has her Etsy store HERE

Cold and raining here.  Springtime in Tasmania!!

No bushwalking today...

This is a track???...

But it was worth it...

And upstream...
