Catch up

Have been without internet access for 3 days (how did we ever live without it ?!?!), so this is a bit of a catch up...

Had a lovely visit from my niece on Thursday.  Hadn't seen her for 9 years.  She lives in Sydney and this was her first trip to Tasmania.  So we got to catch up for a couple of hours, and then, as she only has a few days here, she was off on her travels...
daughter Marnie, niece Cassie, and 'yours truly'

Friday (yesterday) I spent hours working in the garden, so didn't go for a river walk.

We had rain overnight, and this morning everything was looking fresh and green, so I took my camera with me...

  new bright green leaf growth

 early morning peace...

 ...and quiet

Finished my charity blanket.  Need to package it up and mail to Wrap With Love...

Also finished reading THIS book from the library...

I hadn't read any of Ann's books before, although I knew of her writings from the Vera and Shetland TV series.  I really enjoyed the book, so picked up 2 more from the library this morning, although they are from the Vera series so may not enjoy them quite so much as the setting of the Shetland books is a big draw for me :)

So there you have it...all caught up!

Time for some late lunch.

Oh...and speaking of food, I made a Dutch Ginger Cake during the week (sorry...no pic...we ate it all!!), but the recipe is HERE.  (I did add some macadamia nut pieces to the recipe)

Enjoy your weekend!

Random?

The first two lines of this Christian chorus/song, that I haven't sung or thought of for years, popped into my head this week.  Couldn't remember the rest of it, so looked it up:

Father, I place into your hands
The things I cannot do,

Father, I place into your hands
The things that I've been through.
Father, I place into your hands
The way that I should go,
For I know I always can trust you.

Father, I place into your hands
My friends and family.
Father, I place into your hands
The things that trouble me.
Father, I place into your hands
The person I would be,
For I know I always can trust you.
Father, we love to see your face,
We love to hear your voice.
Father, we love to sing your praise
And in your name rejoice.
Father, we love to walk with you
And in your presence rest,
For we know we always can trust you.

Father, I want to be with you
And do the things you do.
Father, I want to speak the words
That you are speaking too.
Father, I want to love the ones
That you will draw to you,
For I know that I am one with you.

Random?

And then this random? thought:

"evil flourished when good people do nothing"

Didn't know who said it (apart from me), so looked it up.

Apparently the correct quote is:

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
― Edmund Burke

Random?

Which then got me thinking about the definition of the word 'random':

"made, done, or happening without method or conscious decision"

And I decided that these thoughts were not so random after all.

So maybe I should call them 'God thoughts', because I think God instigated them :)

And because I've had headaches the last few days I didn't go to church this morning, but went for a restorative walk around the river instead:

Unfortunately my headache is getting worse now, so will take my leave and go lay down.

May you have a restorative (def:
having the ability to restore health, strength, or well-being)
 day!!

aoibhneas!

The sky was looking ominous this morning...

And then it rained...

aoibhneas!!
  (look it up)

I can do inside stuff without feeling guilty that I should be out working on the garden :)

So while having my morning coffee, I browsed some back issues of Grass Roots mag that I bought recently (6 issues for $20...bargain!)

Worked on sewing up my blanket squares...

And if all else fails...there is always an episode of Shetland to be going on with...

Tuesday Talk

It's too hot to go outside...and it's only spring!!!

I did do some dirt digging earlier...
removing weeds and a tree stump from a front garden bed

And spread seaweed on a back garden bed...

Plus made time for my morning coffee...
and a browse of my favourite mag

And baked another banana and walnut cake...
added some bluberries this time...because I had them.  the recipe is HERE

And while it was too hot to work in the garden I finished off the last square (YAY!!!) on the charity blanket...
now comes the fun part of sewing it up :(

Better get out and clean up some of my garden mess...

Then I can come in and cook tea...fish, chips and salad tonight!

To the Sea

Today Marnie, Denver and I drove to the sea...

Not my beloved Stanley (which is a 2 hour drive away), but to East Devonport (a half hour drive).

I collected seaweed to mulch my garden beds...

And Marnie collected driftwood for her macrame hangers she makes and sells on Etsy...

Here is a pic of one of her latest ones...
pretty good n'est-ce pas!!!

Her Etsy store is at  South of Sassafras

It's raining now.  I'm glad we did the beach thing this morning.  I guess the garden mulching will have to wait, and I can sit and knit (although I'm a bit over the knitting and am feeling the crochet urge) and not feel guilty about not working in the garden...

Today...

...which is friday here, I browsed some of my Grass Roots magazines while having my morning coffee...
getting back to basics

Am not doing any more knitting for Bec's shop for this year (unless she specifically wants something).  The weather is warming up, so not as much demand for warm woollies, although this is Tasmania!  The annual Craft Fair is on in Deloraine in a couple of weeks, so will leave my woollies in the shop till after the Fair, then bring whatever is left home for the summer.

So I'm back working on my charity blanket.  I can't believe I only need to knit 4 more squares!!!  (Need 28 for the blanket)  Will sew it together then, and mail it off to Wrap with Love before the end of the year.  My aim is to knit one blanket each year...

Taking a break from the Plainspoken series I've been reading (see previous post).  I still have the Hutterite Diaries to read, but found THIS ONE on my bookshelves the other day, and am enjoying it...

And watching an episode a night of The Waltons dvd while I knit...

Time to get back out into the garden and get a bit more done...before I run out of steam for the day :))

Count your blessings!!

Monday Matters

Howdy!

Life (and family) have been keeping me busy.  But now that we are on Daylight Saving Time and I have an extra hour of daylight (??)  I should be able to get so much more done!

Today I mowed the lawns...

Just having the lawns mowed always gives me a sense of order...even though the garden beds are a riot of weeds.

Still reading my way through the Plainspoken series of books...

Reading Anything But Simple now, and have Hutterite Diaries to go.  If you want to know what Anabaptist life is really like, read these, not the Amish romance novels.

Finished two more beanies and a pair of fingerless gloves to take to Bec's shop later this week...

And that's it!

Anyway...they say a picture is worth 1,000 words!  Well...maybe only 200 with my standard of pictures...

Enjoy your day...in words or pictures :)
