The best time of day...

The birds woke me at 5am this morning with their chatter...

So I was on my way for my walk by 6.  And...there was fog!!!

Unfortunately by the time I was half way around the river track the fog had cleared :(...

I had company...

Thankfully they didn't say much...

Despite the company...it was still lovely and peaceful...

And I couldn't resist this one of the sunlight through the trees...
I won't bore you with the other 600 'sunlight through trees'  I took

And now the sun is shining and it's HOT!

So I'm inside for the day.

Addendum

Following on from my previous couple of posts...

My cold is much better (the olive leaf extract is working its magic) and no headache this morning (yay!!), so went for an early walk (6.30), picked up a few things at the supermarket on the way home (it opens at 7am), and after breakfast I mowed the lawns!  It's getting too hot outside now, and I've used up my quota of energy for today, so it will be 'inside activities' for the rest of the day.

When I was sorting through my knit/crochet yarn boxes, I came across 2 unfinished projects....

This one I will make a bit larger and send off as a cot blanket to KOGO...

And these 4 squares I had started I will make into a throw for my bedroom...

I had been looking to buy some yarn to make a throw that would go with my summer quilt, a gift from Jefferson when he visited Cambodia.
(You can read about how Mekong Quilts is helping underprivileged women in Cambodia and Vietnam HERE), but couldn't find the right coloured yarn (I wanted an aqua)...and then I found I already had this in the 'unfinished box'...
the colours are a bit paler than I was originally intending, but I think I now prefer the paler softness with the brighter quilt colours

And my back issues of Anabaptist Voice publication arrived!!  You can subscribe or read online HERE...
a feast of good reading

Marnie finally emailed me the photos she had taken on her phone from our Penguin trip last week, so here ya go...

on the coast road between Penguin and Ulverstone

We walked.  We ate.  We shopped.  We came home.

I wanna go back again!!!

So Lo Oh Me Oh

We had some much needed rain over night, so I went for an early morning walk.  It was so fresh and cool and grey...my kind of day!  I just made it back before the rain started up again...

My garden is loving the rain...as am I!

I stopped off at the newsagents on the way home to stock up on some reading material...

I'm not going to church today as I'm at the coughing stage of my cold/flu and I thought it best to keep my germs to myself.  I bought some olive leaf extract to dose up on to see if that will help...

And I thought you might like to see this photo of the rhododendron in my front yard...
pretty isn't it!

Going to make a cup of tea and watch Songs of Praise on TV, then sort through my knitting yarns and get them into order to see what exactly I've got...and what I need...

I feel a crochet project coming on...

Must be this cooler weather :)

Woe is me

I have a cold :(

Haven't had one all year, but if I do get one, it always seems to be around this time of year.  Not in winter, but late spring/early summer.  So I'm dosing up on hot lemon and honey drinks and lots of water...
local honey and lemons from my tree

And on the way back from my walk this morning, I stopped in at the supermarket and bought a chicken to make chicken soup.  I was just going to buy some chicken wings, but decided a whole chicken was more economical.  So I've got the 2 x drumsticks/thighs ready to bake (and will get 2 meals out of that with roast vegies and greens), and 2 x breasts in the freezer (for stir fries), and the wings and carcass in the crockpot (along with garlic, ginger, onion, leek, celery, carrot, brown rice, barley, salt and pepper, and a bay leaf) for soup.  Will put some of the soup in containers in the freezer too.  So all up not a bad stock of meals from a $10 chicken!

it's starting to smell good already

Last Tuesday Marnie and I had a trip to Penguin for a 'sea fix'.  Friend Vicki had planned to come too, but had to cancel.  Not my beloved Stanley, but still nice to see (and smell) the sea, enjoy some lunch at a beach front cafe and have a walk along the beachfront...

Also went to one of my favourite shops in Penguin Cocoon, and bought this print.  I have 3 others of Claire Hansen's and really love them.  Now to find a frame for this one...

Still working on my diagonal cot blanket squares, and starting to re-read the Jan Karon Mitford series...

Here's your Introvert image for the day...
and because I love the trees

And your dose of humour...
well...I thought it was funny!!!

Time for a lemon drink (cough...cough...cough...)

Oh...and Happy Thanksgiving to those who are celebrating!

Take it easy Tuesday

It was cloudy this morning (yay!!) so I enjoyed my early walk, then home to mow the lawns before the sun came out and I came in...

I've used up my quota of energy for today, so will spend the afternoon doing inside stuff and perhaps go for a late afternoon walk if it cools down.

Had to make a trip to Launceston yesterday, and while there, I picked up a couple of books and a pot (to make another mini succulent garden) at one of the op shops...
Philip Yancey is one of my favourite authors

Ecoyarns had a sale recently and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to buy some of this lovely organic wool from New Zealand.  I don't have a project in mind as yet, but will let you know when I decide..
it even still smells 'sheepy' :)

Still working on my pastel cot blanket squares for charity...

And after reading about Sarah's New Book, I realised I had her previous book The Invisible Girls on my bookshelves, so started reading it, and it's really good...
she blogs HERE

Here ya go...your little bit of humour for the day...

Off to enjoy my own company :))

Interacting...alone.

I've been having a great time reading introvert quotes on the internet.  Oh how I can relate...
Some of them are so funny...and true :)  (They are better with the illustrations that go with some of them, but I can't work out how to post them here.)

Here ya go:

If your phone doesn't ring.  It's me.

I saw people through the window today.  That's enough social interaction.

I came.  I saw.  I left early.

A group of people is called a "No Thanks."

I'm sorry I didn't answer the phone when you called.  I don't use it for that.

Born to think.  Forced to Talk.

Hold on,   I've got to overthink about it.

If I'm frowning I've reached my socialization limit.

Nope.  Not today...

I'm a social vegan.  I avoid meet.

And the grand finale:

I'm sorry.  I know I said hi, but I wasn't really prepared for any follow-up conversation.

There are more.  Tomorrow.  Don't want to over exert myself :))

ever the introvert

PS - And I've just come across THIS book which may have to go on my 'to buy' list!

So then I thought...

I had these succulents in pots (they were here when I moved in), and they were looking a bit sad...

And I had some empty plant pots.  So then I thought...

Why not pot some up to bring inside...

And I had this spider plant in the shade house...

So then I thought...   Why not pot up some of the baby 'spiders'...
will bring them inside when they grow a bit

I'd finished the blanket for Wrap with Love and was looking for another (mindless) project.

So then I thought...  Why not start a cot blanket ( in pastel colours) for KOGO...
will need 25 x 10 inch diagonal squares

And had finished my second Ann Cleeves book.

So then I thought...  Why not read another one...

And that's more than enought 'thoughts' for one day :)
