August Yarn Along

Yarn Along time again...

Friend Debbie asked how I came to chose the name 'soliloquy' in the name the shawl competition I won.  You can read more on that in THIS post.

The word soliloquy came to me, as I looked at the photo.  Just sort of popped into my head.  I like the word, the way it sounds, and had a vague idea of the meaning, but googled it anyway.

Soliloquy: an act of speaking one's thoughts aloud when by oneself or regardless of any hearers.

So it's a conversation with oneself, a sort of inner musing/dialoguing, which I do all the time in my head, especially when knitting or crocheting.

And in looking at the shawl, I also felt it would be a sort of soft and comforting knit, as the shawl portrayed to me a visual softness and calmness (even though blue is not my colour).  There was some interest in the pattern, but also repetition, so the calm (but interesting knitting) would accompany my calm (but interesting) thoughts :)  Soliloquy.

So there ya go.  I bet you were dying to know all this :))

And if you want a bit of background on the designer, you can read it HERE.  It's interesting that she was inspired by the sea/ocean (another love of mine), which I also find calming and restful...

And remember this green granny blanket...

When Natasha was visiting she chose it to take back with her to Connecticut.  Here it is, making itself 'at home' in her sunroom...

wouldn't you love a sunroom like this!!

I'm itchin' to get started on a sweater/pullover for myself using this olive green (although it looks grey in the photo) wool/bamboo mix tweed yarn from Bendigo Woollen Mills...
and reading the Pianist of Yarmouk (from the library)

Have these books waiting in the wings on my bookshelves...
but had to move them down the list to read the library book first

Still working on these charity blanket squares...
 only ONE square to go!!!

Ready to sew these up, but am going to leave them on my lounge room floor to remind me...
I've just placed them randomly, but will probably tweak them before sewing up

I think I've earned myself a coffee...
