Meeting the Master
I had walked life's way with an easy tread,
I had traveled where pleasures and comfort lead
until one day in a quiet place,
I met the Master face to face.
With station and rank and wealth for my goal,
Much thought for my body but none for my soul,
I'd entered to win this life's mad race,
when I met the Master face to face.
I built my towers and reared them high,
'til they had pierced the blue of the sky.
I'd sworn to rule with an iron mace,
when I met my Master face to face.
I met Him and knew Him and blushed to see,
that His eyes, full of sorrow, were fixed upon me.
I faltered and fell at his feet that day,
while my castles melted and vanished away.
Melted and vanished and in their place,
nothing else could I see but the Master's face.
My thoughts are now for the souls of men,
I had lost my life to find it again.
Since that day in a quiet place,
when I met the Master face to face.

A Year's Journey with God
Read these quotes this week from my devotional book above:
Hide me, O my Saviour, hide, till the storm of life is past - Charles Wesley (1707 - 1788)
God is our clothing, wrapping us and holding us in His love - Julian of Norwich (1342 - 1416)
I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do - Edward Everett Hale (1822 - 1909)
Here is a link to Amazon. If you click on the 'look inside' on the book cover when you get there, you can read some of the entries from the book.

Ginger Biscuits for Bean...
...and anyone else who would like the recipe!
Cream together:
5oz/142 gms butter
1 egg
1 cup sugar (I use castor sugar)
1 tablespoon golden syrup
Then add:
2 cups self-raising flour
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 teaspoon bi-carb soda
Roll into walnut sized balls (I flatten them slightly). Dip tops in sugar. Arrange on greased (I use olive oil) baking trays (sugar side up), leaving room for spreading.
Bake in 180C (I think that is about 350'F) oven for about 20 minutes.
Enjoy, but be warned...they are addictive!!

A good ending to a not so good week
Monday was our ladies bible study meeting (studying the second half of the book of Isaiah) and then a share lunch together, and supermarket shopping on the way home.
Monday night I started to come down with a migraine :o(
Tuesday morning was our first meeting for the year of our charity knitting group (we don't meet over the summer months), and as I am the co-ordinator...I had to be there. So I dosed up on my migraine medication and joined the ladies. They had brought in lots of knitted (and sewn) items they had been working on over summer. The knitted squares will be sewn together to make blankets.
Last year we send away 330 items to various charities, and that included 7 big blankets!
I had to leave the get together a little early as my head was getting bad again. My migraine and I shared the next 3 days, but my medication did give me some relief for a few hours at a time. Thursday afternoon I made a chocolate slice and ginger biscuits as I was expecting visitors for lunch on friday. I was thinking I might have to cancel their visit, but friday morning I was feeling much better, and enjoyed a lovely few hours with the Mennonite folk from Deloraine.
The couple in the middle are the minister and his wife, and the couple on the right were visiting from California.
I had lots of questions for them...and they had lots of answers!

Monday Thoughts
Where are you looking?
Where are your eyes fixed?
Inward...on yourself?
Outward...at the world?
Upward...to Jesus?
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
Hebrews 12:2-3
O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s a light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!
Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
Over us sin no more hath dominion—
For more than conquerors we are!
His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

Change of plans!!
Surprise!! I've decided not to close my blog after all :o)
I started to write a long scree as to why, but the more I wrote, the more complicated it got!
So will just say that I feel the Lord impressing on me to keep it open as a christian presence on the internet.
My postings may be rather sporadic, but I will get here when I can.
To those who commented that they would like to keep in touch by snail mail, I have written you letters this afternoon and will get them in the post to you tomorrow.
If anyone else would like to correpsond, please put your address details in a comment (which I will not publish) and I will get a letter to you.
Just to update on today (Sunday); it is cool and raining. I walked to church in between showers. I could have driven, but as I haven't been beach walking the last 2 days due to wet weather and high tides, I enjoyed the walk...and it's only up the road and around the corner!
We had a visiting minister from Hobart and his sermon was very good (on the first couple of chapters of Romans). I had taken the ginger biscuits I made yesterday to share at our after service fellowship cuppa.
Having had lunch, gotten letters written and this blog post done, I am going to do some knitting. I finished my cardigan I was knitting (will get photos on as soon as I can), and as I am still in knitting mode, I am going to knit a sleeveless, button front vest for myself (photos soon).
Hope ya all are enjoying your weekend!

So long, farewell...
So long, farewell
Auf Wiedersehen, adieu
Adieu, adieu
To you and you and you...
And in case you don't recognise it...it's from The Sound of Music.
I have decided to close my blog. I may come back at another time...in another place, but for now it's goodbye!
Thankyou to those who visited me here and left comments over the last 12 months.
I'm tying up loose ends as I hope to be moving soon, but once I get resettled I might start blogging again.
I like to write and receive letters, so if any of you would like to write (I prefer snail mail, but also do email) leave your details in a comment (I won't publish the comment with your details).
I will close my blog this Sunday.
Thanks for your company..... :o)
