Despite being slowed down with headaches (again) last week I'm thankful that I am feeling better now and was able to get to church, after missing the last two Sundays.
And I'm happy to report progress on Effie. She is all stitched up and has a dress, but still needs a face (unless I make her Amish) and hair, or a hat. I finished her last week but wanted to make a dress for her...
The knitting is a ball of chenille type yarn that Marnie didn't want, so I decided to make a little doll blanket out of it.
A trip to the op shop during the week netted me some nice bargains, all for a grand total of $6.50 ...
Englich bone china mug (50 cents), Victoria magazine ($1), a pretty handmade card (50 cents), a signed, historical book by a Tasmanian author ($3.50), and a ceramic and Tasmanian Blackwood wall plaque ($1)
And it's always a good day when mail arrives...

and before you ask... Yes! I have the same lunch every day :))
The strawberries are ripening well (and the blackberries will be ready soon)...

And I almost read two books in January, even though my goal was only to read one...
I'll finish "Will The Real Heretics..." tonight.

I think that's what I need... a cup of tea. It always makes things better!

ReplyDeleteThe plaque with the country scene is nice; I always love landscapes.
She stays around the garden mostly during the day, finding little hiding spots to sleep in. She's in and out during the night (I know, because I have to get up and let her out ... let her in ... let her out ... let her in ...) so who knows what she gets up to. But she hates to be confined and gets frantic if she isn't let out when she wants to go out. But when she's had enough of being outside, she rattles the front doorknob until I get out of bed and let her in!!

Effie the doll is just delightful and you found some wonderful bargains in the op shop. I've derailed slightly on the bible chapters but i'm still keeping up with my daily prayers, phew! I have every intention on getting back on track though ð.
ReplyDeleteSending loads of hugs re the headaches. I had one horrendous humdinger of a severe migraine attack at the weekend, it started early Saturday morning and finally eased so that I could sit inclined by Sunday lunchtime, what a doozy ðĪŠ.
The photo of Jaya doing the tea ceremony is quite sweet and yes I agree with you tea certainly helps in all sorts of situations xx
I have another Effie doll cut out to sew up. I can't say I actually enjoy making them, but it's a change from the knitting and crocheting :)
DeleteI'm sorry to hear about your migraine. Mine seem to be mostly caused by weather changes, especially low (and falling) air pressure. Not much you can do about the weather. Do you have medication you take for them? I take Sumatriptan (which is one of the triptans) and mostly it eases (or takes away) my migraine within an hour. I hope you can find something to help with yours. xx
